The Awesomeness of October

In my brain, October means pumpkins, golden leaves, and It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

Halloween is my least favorite holiday, but my church always schedules a harvest festival, meaning lots of candy, superhero costumes, and inflatable bouncing houses.
October whisks in cool weather, autumn candles, and baseball’s postseason.

To celebrate my favorite season, here’s a giveaway. You’ve got a chance to win a $10 Amazon card or Starbucks card. Whichever one you’d like. (I’m not a coffee person, so I’d pick Amazon every time!)

  6. Love your contest, but how in the world are we supposed to decide between coffee and books!? :)

  7. Oh. just realized I'm supposed to say my favorite thing about Autumn. The crisp fall air and the first fire of the season.

    1. Haha! The decision is simple for me--I only like the SCENT of coffee.
Oh, and I love a good bonfire when the air is nippy.

  8. I love the wonderful, rich, colors of fall. Also the cool crispness in the air. Makes me want to go for a long walk and take in the beauty of our God's creation. Thank you for the generous giveaway.

    1. Cathy, the colors of fall are truly beautiful. Reminds me of how God reveals Himself through His creation.

  9. Hi Courtney - I love the cool weather of October! I just wanted to tell you I was so encouraged by your words in the last newsletter. In spite of the good news I (we) received this weekend about LS, I was feeling very down about another contest entry I got back late last night that totally bombed. Same story, same everything, but the judge hated it. So then I read your comments and I'm smiling again. Writing for the Lord is like that - all it takes is for our words to make a difference in the life of at least one person. So appreciate your perspective.

    1. Cindy, YOUR words have touched me. I always wonder if the blog, newsletter, website matters. Thank you for sharing that.
The Devil likes to defeat me with doubts. Lately, I've had to stay on guard against that. I have no doubt your story is awesome. Two editors and an agent chose you to be SECOND. That's amazing!
Opinions may differ, but industry professionals clearly enjoyed your writing. :)
      Thanks for stopping by!

    1. My favorite "costume" was the year my sister and I dressed up in matching Old Navy velour pants and jackets. We were super comfortable while we helped kids play our game at church.
      Thanks for commenting, Heather!
